biography

Kenny Grimes, is a graduate of the University Of Colorado with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Music. Kenny grew up in Wichita Falls, Texas and began playing in live bands at the age of 14. He moved to Denver in 1977 to pursue his musical education. After graduating from college, he then moved to Austin, Texas where he has lived and worked since 1984.

Kenny's work includes not only live performances, but recording, and teaching as well. He has worked in most all of the recording studios in Central Texas (see discography page). Kenny has also traveled to Europe and overseas with several different artists, performing in such countries as Italy, England, Belgium, Holland, Switzerland, France, Germany and Jamaica.

Kenny is currently working with Curb recording artist Hal Ketchum. He has also worked with artists such as Willie Nelson, Jerry Jeff Walker, Hank Thompson, Shelly West, Chris Wall, Gary P. Nunn, Johnny Gimble, Mark Winston Kirk, and Owen Temple to name a few.

While Kenny enjoys country music, he is also an accomplished jazz guitarist and adept at playing virtually all musical styles. Watch and listen for 'GUITAR JAZZ' (with fellow musician/guitarist Michael Dvorken). It's a very cool / very musical thing happening near you! (check out 'Blues and Jazz' sound bites on the 'Media' page)

As a teacher, Kenny is available to those seeking assistance in learning to play the guitar or bass, or expanding their current skill level.
